Perfect Pacer is an affordable wave light alternative for Garmin watches. Wave lights (LED pace lights) are expensive systems embedded in elite running tracks that illuminate at a target pace so runners can match the light. Perfect Pacer brings this same concept to your wrist for just $10. It is a Garmin Connect IQ data field that buzzes your watch at the exact second you should reach each pre-set distance marker — the same real-time pacing feedback as wave lights, without the $50,000+ installation cost. Place markers at known intervals (e.g. every 100m on a track or at pool walls), enter your target pace, and the app calculates the precise buzz interval. At 5:22/mile pace with 100m markers, the watch buzzes every 20 seconds. If you reach the marker before the buzz, you're ahead of pace. If the buzz hits first, you're behind. Two modes: Even Pace for steady efforts and Interval for work/recovery sets. Compatible with Garmin Forerunner (245, 265, 745, 945, 955, 965), Fenix, Enduro, and most Connect IQ watches. One-time $10 purchase, no subscription. Perfect for track coaches, distance runners, sprinters, and swimmers who want professional-grade pacing technology on their wrist.

Garmin Connect IQ Data Field

Set markers.
Set your pace.
Stay on it.

Place markers at known distances on your track, pool, or path. Tell Perfect Pacer your target pace. Your Garmin buzzes at the exact second you should reach each marker. Ahead of the buzz? Slow down. Behind? Speed up. No GPS. Pure time-based precision.

Perfect Pacer

Like wave lights on a track.
Except it's on your wrist.

Elite facilities use LED wave lights embedded in the track to pace runners — systems that cost tens of thousands of dollars. Perfect Pacer is the affordable wave light alternative, delivering the same pacing concept using distance markers and your Garmin's vibration motor. No GPS. No installation. Just math.

Target: 5:22/mi • Markers every 100m
01

Set your markers

Use existing track markings every 100m, lane ropes in a pool, cones, chalk, tape — anything at consistent, known intervals.

02

Watch buzzes on time

Based on your target pace and marker distance, your watch vibrates at the exact second you should reach each marker.

03

Adjust in real time

Buzz hits and you haven't reached the marker yet? You're behind — pick it up. Already past it? Ease off. Your body learns the pace.

Ready in 2 minutes

1

Pick your markers

Use whatever works for your environment. On a track, the 100m marks are already there. In a pool, use the walls. On a path, set cones, chalk, or tape at even intervals. The key is consistent, known distances.

2

Enter your distance & pace

Tell Perfect Pacer the distance between markers and your target pace. It calculates the exact time interval between buzzes. Example: 100m markers at 5:22/mile pace = a buzz every 20 seconds.

3

Start and go

Hit start. Your watch buzzes or beeps at each calculated interval. When the buzz hits, you should be at the next marker. That's your feedback — instant, physical, and impossible to ignore.

4

Self-correct on the fly

Arrived before the buzz? You're ahead of pace. Haven't reached it? You're behind. No math. No checking splits. Your body learns to feel the pace. Coaches: watch your athletes adjust in real time from the infield.

Even pace or intervals. You pick.

Two modes built for different training goals. Both use the same marker-based concept.

Even Pace

Steady state

One pace, start to finish. The watch buzzes at a consistent interval matched to your target. Great for tempo runs, time trials, and race simulation. Teaches your body to lock into goal pace without drifting.

Example:
Markers every 100m
Target: 5:22/mi pace
Buzz every 20 seconds
Be at the next marker when it buzzes.
Interval

Work + recovery

Set different paces for hard efforts and recovery floats. The buzz interval changes automatically between work and rest. Perfect for 200s, 400s, 800s with specific recovery paces — no more guessing your float effort.

Example:
4x400m @ 75s, 200m float @ 55s
Work buzz: every 18.75s per 100m
Recovery buzz: every 27.5s per 100m

This is what wave lights look like.
Now imagine it on your wrist.

Wave lights are LED pacing systems embedded in elite running tracks. They cost tens of thousands of dollars and are permanently installed. Perfect Pacer gives you the same real-time pacing feedback on your Garmin watch for $10.

Wave light systems are bolted to the track and cost $50,000+. Perfect Pacer delivers the same concept — knowing exactly whether you're on pace at every checkpoint — from your wrist for $10.

What coaches and runners say

★★★★★
"I use the 100m marks on our track and have my 800m group all on Perfect Pacer. Within two sessions they could feel 2:10 vs 2:15 pace without checking their watch."
CT
Coach T.
HS Track & XC Coach
★★★★★
"GPS pace is useless on a track — it lags and bounces. This is pure math. Set the distance, set the pace, and the watch tells you exactly where you should be. Finally."
MR
Mike R.
Sub-3 Marathoner
★★★★★
"The interval mode is incredible for 200m repeats with float recovery. I set exact work and rest paces and the watch handles the switching. No more guessing my float."

Questions

No. Perfect Pacer is 100% time-based. You tell it the distance between your markers and your target pace. It calculates the time interval and buzzes your watch on a precise timer. No GPS, no satellite lag, no inaccuracy on tight track turns. Just math.

Most Garmin watches that support Connect IQ data fields. This includes the Forerunner series (245, 265, 745, 945, 955, 965), Fenix, Enduro, and more. Check the Garmin Connect IQ store listing for the full compatibility list.

As accurate as your watch's internal clock, which is extremely precise. There's no GPS drift, no satellite delay. The interval timer starts when you press go and fires at exact calculated intervals. The only variable is how accurately you measured your marker distances.

Anything at consistent, known distances. On a track, the 100m marks are already painted. You can also use cones, chalk, tape, or any visible reference. In a pool, the walls work perfectly. The key is that you know the exact distance between each marker.

Garmin's pace alerts use GPS and tell you after you've drifted off pace. They're reactive and laggy on a track. Perfect Pacer is proactive — it sets a timer based on pure math and buzzes at the exact second you should reach your next marker. You get immediate, visual feedback by checking your position against the marker.

Exactly. Wave lights (LED pace lights) are systems embedded in elite tracks that light up at your target pace. Perfect Pacer uses the same concept — instead of a light moving along the track, your Garmin buzzes at the exact second you should reach each distance marker. Same real-time pacing feedback, but $10 on your wrist instead of a $50,000+ installation.

Each athlete needs the app on their own Garmin watch (one $10 purchase per Garmin account). But you set the markers once and every athlete on the team uses the same course. They each set their own target pace and get individual feedback.

Stop guessing. Start pacing.

Markers + your Garmin + $10 = precision pacing for life.
